National Investigation Agency Senior Public Prosecutor & Public Prosecutor Recruitment 2026

National Investigation Agency (NIA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has invited nominations/applications for the posts of Senior Public Prosecutor (Sr. PP) and Public Prosecutor (PP) on deputation (ISTC) basis. The recruitment is being conducted for multiple vacancies across India for experienced law professionals having prosecution experience in criminal cases.

The number of vacancies may vary depending upon organizational requirements.

Pay Scale Details

Special Security Allowance of 20% may also be admissible.

Educational Qualification

Senior Public Prosecutor

Candidates must possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University
• Minimum 08 years experience in prosecution of criminal cases

Public Prosecutor

Candidates must possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University
• Minimum 07 years experience in prosecution of criminal cases

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible officers include:

• Officers of Central Government
• State Government
• Recognized Research Institutions
• Universities
• Public Sector Undertakings
• Semi-Government / Statutory / Autonomous Organizations

Senior Public Prosecutor Eligibility

• Holding analogous post on regular basis, OR
• 05 years regular service in Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay ₹5400

Public Prosecutor Eligibility

• Holding analogous post on regular basis, OR
• 02 years regular service in Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay ₹4800

Maximum Age Limit

The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

Nature of Duties

Selected candidates will be responsible for:

• Conducting prosecution in criminal cases
• Drafting sanction orders and legal documents
• Preparing paper books and witness statements
• Handling court proceedings and legal compliance
• Coordinating with investigation officers
• Managing appeals, revisions, and convictions
• Supervising prosecution work in High Courts and Supreme Court

• Bio-data/CV in prescribed format
• Educational qualification certificates
• Experience certificates
• Vigilance Clearance Certificate
• Integrity Certificate
• APAR dossiers for last 5 years
• Details of penalties imposed during last 10 years (if any)
